Can Women Take Jalyn While Breastfeeding?
At this time, it is unknown if
Jalyn™ (
dutasteride/tamsulosin) passes through breast milk. This medication should not be used in any women who may become pregnant, including women who are breastfeeding. Therefore, women should not take Jalyn while breastfeeding. If you are nursing a child, talk with your healthcare provider before taking this medication.
More Information on Breastfeeding and Jalyn
No research has been done to see if Jalyn passes through breast milk. For many medications, studies are rarely done in breastfeeding women, as this would usually expose an infant (who will not directly benefit from the medication) to possible risks. In addition, Jalyn is not approved for any use in women -- it is only approved for men.
Talking With Your Healthcare Provider
You should discuss breastfeeding and
Jalyn use with your healthcare provider. Each woman's situation is different, and you and your healthcare provider understand your situation best. After considering what you want and expect, as well as your current health situation, the two of you can make a shared decision that is right for you.
