Prostate Home > Avadart

Were you looking for information about Avodart? Avadart is a common misspelling of Avodart.
Avodart® (dutasteride) is a prescription medication that is used to treat an enlarged prostate by blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT. DHT is responsible for enlarging the prostate. By reducing the DHT levels, Avodart helps to shrink the prostate and thereby relieve enlarged prostate symptoms. Some side effects of Avodart include erectile dysfunction, a decreased sex drive, and a decreased ejaculate amount. Avodart comes in a capsule form that is taken once daily, and may be taken with or without food. There is only one dose of Avodart for the treatment of an enlarged prostate -- 0.5 mg.
