Prostate Home > Jalyn Side Effects

Ejaculation problems, impotence, and dizziness are some of the most commonly reported side effects of Jalyn. Although these reactions typically require little or no treatment, it is possible to experience potentially serious side effects while taking this drug. Notify your healthcare provider right away if you experience problems such as fainting, breast lumps, or difficulty breathing.

An Introduction to Jalyn Side Effects

Just like any medicine, Jalyn™ (dutasteride/tamsulosin) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. Most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Jalyn. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)

Common Side Effects of Jalyn

Jalyn contains a combination of two medicines -- dutasteride (Avodart®) and tamsulosin (Flomax®). Although no clinical trials have been done on Jalyn alone, one clinical trial has been done using both components of Jalyn together. In this study, the side effects reported by the men taking this combination of medications were carefully documented.
In this study, the most common side effects included:
  • Ejaculation problems, including decreased semen amount -- in up to 9.7 percent of men
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence -- up to 7.8 percent
  • A decreased libido (sex drive) -- up to 5.9 percent
  • Breast tenderness and enlargement -- up to 2.8 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 1.7 percent.
