Prostate Home > Cardura Medicine

Cardura® (doxazosin mesylate) is approved to relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate and to lower high blood pressure (hypertension). The medication achieves both of these effects by relaxing the muscles of the prostate and bladder. In addition, the medicine relaxes the blood vessels in the body to help lower blood pressure.

Cardura is available in tablet form and is typically taken once a day. Although most people tolerate the drug well, information on potential side effects should be reviewed prior to beginning treatment. These include dizziness, drowsiness, and fatigue, among other things.
