Prostate Home > Flomax Drug Info

Available by prescription only, Flomax® (tamsulosin hydrochloride) is a drug used to quickly relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. It works by relaxing the muscles of the prostate and bladder. This medication comes in the form of a capsule and is taken once a day. It is available in both brand-name and generic form.

It's important to review this drug's safety information with your healthcare provider before starting treatment. Flomax may not be suitable for everyone, so make sure your healthcare provider knows if you have any other medical conditions or any allergies, especially a sulfa allergy. Common side effects may include abnormal ejaculation, dizziness, and runny nose.
