Prostate Home > Proscar Information

Men with an enlarged prostate may benefit from Proscar® (finasteride), a prescription drug. This product helps shrink the prostate over time, reducing symptoms. Available in the form of a tablet, Proscar is taken once a day, with or without food. It's important to note that it may take as long as six months to see results.

Before using Proscar, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other drugs you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, as well as any allergies you may have, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

(For more information on this drug, click Proscar. This article looks at how this product works, side effects, and how it performed in clinical trials.)
