Jalyn Medication Information

Available by prescription only, JalynTM (dutasteride/tamsulosin) is a medication used to treat an enlarged prostate (also known medically as benign prostatic hyperplasia, benign prostatic hypertrophy, or BPH).

Jalyn contains two BPH medicines: dutasteride (Avodart®) and tamsulosin (Flomax®). It works by helping to shrink the prostate and to improve urine flow. It comes in the form of a capsule and is taken once daily.

Because this product is not appropriate for everyone, make sure your healthcare provider has complete information on any medications you are taking before starting Jalyn. Also, you may not be able to take this drug if you have certain medical conditions, such as low blood pressure, liver problems, or an allergy to sulfa drugs.

Although many people do not have any problems while taking Jalyn, side effects can occur and may include dizziness and impotence. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.
