An Introduction to Rapaflo Side Effects
As with any medicine, side effects are possible with
Rapaflo™ (
silodosin). However, not everyone who takes the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects of Rapaflo
Rapaflo has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occur in a group of people taking the drug are documented and are then compared to side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.
In these studies, the most common Rapaflo side effects included:
- Retrograde ejaculation (when ejaculate enters the bladder instead of going out through the penis) -- in up to 28.1 percent of men
- Dizziness -- up to 3.2 percent
- Diarrhea -- up to 2.6 percent
- Headaches -- up to 2.4 percent
- Common cold symptoms -- up to 2.4 percent
- Nasal congestion -- up to 2.1 percent.
Retrograde ejaculation is the most common side effect of Rapaflo but is usually painless and harmless. Men with this problem may notice cloudy urine after sexual intercourse. It can cause problems for couples trying to conceive a child.
